I’ve spent about ten years leading teams that never share a room: at Buffer, at Remote, as Head of Engineering at Parabol, and today at Safety Cybersecurity.
I started out as a developer who wanted to solve every problem myself. Leadership taught me the opposite: listen first, brief well, ask the right question at the right moment, and then get out of the way. In 2021 I wrote a post about it called “Be Lazy and Go Home”. I still mean it.
Leadership took me away from the code for a long time. AI brought me back. I find working with it genuinely engaging, and for the first time in years I’m building things myself again.
One of those things is Nicht mehr solo, a small side project. Many solopreneurs use AI like a better Google and still do everything themselves. They’ve never been anyone’s boss, so nobody ever taught them to delegate. I want to change that.
